Here’s a new poem about a friend of mine who I haven’t been as close to of late as I’d like. She’s been having a really hard time the last couple of years, and it seems like our friendship isn’t as close as it used to be. It’s kind of distressing to me to not to be able to help as I once might have been able to, especially since it seems this friend is on a course to self-destruction. Anyway, here it is…
I try to get a gauge for how you’re doing
But you won’t let me in
We used to be really good friends
But now that relationship seems really thin
I see you slowly going down
Like a sinking ship run aground
I want to understand why
But those feelings you hide
I know you’ve had it rough
And it hasn’t helped at all
You know your problems
And what to do
But still you take the fall
If you aren’t strong enough
To do what you know
You need to do
Then look to me
For getting you
On you feet again
